FedEx International Priority

FedEx International Priority is the fastest shipping method that CDJapan offers. With FedEx International Priority, you can send packages across the world to over 220 countries and territories. Moreover, FedEx provides an online tracking service, so you can easily keep track of the package status any time at your finger tips. FedEx offers a top quality, reliable service and the rates available to CDJapan customers represent great value for money.

Important Notes About Customs Fees
In order to speed up the customs clearance, FedEx normally pays the customs fees upfront on your behalf, and then collect it from you when they deliver your package. If you refuse to accept the delivery of your order for any reason, they are not able to get reimbursed from your government for the amount they paid upfront, and these fees will be billed on us, along with the return postage. If that happens, the amount we will be able to reimburse you is: Item Price Subtotal - Customs Fees - Return Postage. Make sure to read about Customs Duties and Import VAT.

How CDJapan Shipping Charges are Determined

Post Office determines shipping charges based on the package weight. Similarly, our shipping charge is determined based on the weight of the order in two steps as listed below.

Step 1: Calculate Order Weight

When determining the shipping charge, our website calculates the weight of the order first, based on the item weight, quantity of items, and the package weight.

Order Weight = Item Weight + Package Weight

Item Weight for each item is listed on the item details view page.

Regular CD: 120g

Regular DVD: 130g

Cardboard Sleeve CD: 80g

Package Weight is 33g per order and it increases by between 30 and 50g per each additional item, depending on the size of items.

Notes:

Step 2: Determine Shipping Charges Corresponding to Order Weight

Once the order weight is calculated, our website determines the shipping charge based on the tables listed below.

Shipping Options

There are following two options available for orders containing future releases with different release dates. You can make your selection before you finalize your order.

Ship When All Items Have Been Released
If you select this option, we will wait until all items have been released before shipping the order. For example, if your order contains an item to be released next month and another one to be released two months later, the order will be shipped two months later, after both of the items have been released.

Ship Future Releases As They Are Released
If you select this option, we will ship future releases as they are released. There will be additional shipping charge for shipping items separately. *Please note that this option is available only for orders containing future releases.

Customs Duties and Import VAT

Your package may be subject to customs tax and VAT (Value Added Tax) once it arrives in your country. These extra charges are forms of tax that are not included with CDJapan prices or our shipping charge. They will be collected from you directly when the packages is delivered, and it will be your responsibility to complete the payment in order to receive your order. As the customs office applies the customs charges randomly on arriving parcels, we are not able to predict or control it on our end.

Some countries, including the US, do not charge customs charges on most products available at CDJapan, but many countries do. Below are approximate rates of customs tax and VAT in some countries that we know of.

French VAT: 19.5%
German VAT: 19.0%
UK VAT: 15.0%
Brazillian Customs Tax: 60%

Please note that above are approximate rates. Since they vary widely from country to country, it won't be possible for us to find out the accurate rates on our end. Make sure to contact the customs office in the country where you are receiving your order to find out the accurate rates before you place your order. Also make sure to include the possible amounts in your total costs.

For your information, CDJapan prices do not include any Japanese tax at all, as they are applicable only to the residents of Japan. Customs duties and VAT would be the only amount of tax you will pay for your CDJapan order, that is, if they are applied at all on your order.

Minimum Value
Once again, it varies from country to country and it is not possible for us to find out the details, but packages might be exempt from customs fees if the value of items included is less than a minimum value.

For example in Europe, packages are exempt from customs duties if the value of items inside is less than 22 Euro. Also, if the package is marked as a gift, the minimum value is raised to 45 Euro.

We are required to declare the value of items accurately on the package. In order to ensure that customers are able to receive their orders safely, CDJapan complies with all regulations and laws. So, it won't be possible for us to falsely lower the value of the items included in the package. If any online shop does that, it probably means that they don't have a good relationship with authorities. Please note that points or coupons used on an order do not alter the value of items themselves, even though they lower the total value of your purchase. In other words, we declare the total of item prices themselves as the value of items.

Clearance Fees
FedEx and couriers handling EMS packages may charge you a clearance fees for processing your order through the customs office, and it is your responsibility to complete the payment in order to receive it.

FedEx charges 10 Euro in Europe. As for packages sent by EMS, Air Mail, and SAL, it might be different depending on who handles the EMS packages in your country. In UK, for example, Parcelforce handles packages sent by EMS, while Royal Mail handles packages sent by Air Mail and SAL.
Parcelforce charges 13.5 pounds, while Royal Mail charges 8 pounds. Similarly, Chronopost handles EMS in many European countries, while the post office handles Air Mail and SAL, but we don't know their fees accurately. So, please contact your post office to find out.

Sending Your Order as a Gift
To send your order as a gift, select "Send my order as a gift, and do not print prices on the packing slip" in the "Shipping and Gift Options" step at the time you order.

If you select this option, we will mark your package as a gift. Also, the prices of items won't be printed on the Packing Slip, which is a list of items to be included inside the package. However, we are still required to declare the value of items on the outside of the package.

Undeliverable Packages

Sometimes, packages are returned to us by post office as undeliverable. This means either the shipping address was incorrect, attempts by the local post office/courier to deliver the package failed, the package was unclaimed, the recipient did not pay customs tax, or the package was refused by the recipient.

We refund only the item price subtotal when an order is returned to us as undeliverable. In case the payment method of the order is either International Postal Money Order or Cash, the item price subtotal will be added as Frequent Shopper Points on your Customer Account.

Items that have been returned to us as undeliverable will be restocked immediately, and we are not able to ship them again. If you would still like to purchase the items, please place your order online again.

We send shipping confirmation e-mails upon shipping orders. It mentions the span of time estimated for delivery. If you do not receive your package within the span of time, please call your local depot/post office to see if they might be holding the package for you. In case you are absent at the time of delivery, the package may be taken back to the depot/post office until you claim it. Sometimes a note with contact information will be left in your absence, but occasionally the postal service/courier may simply repeat attempts to deliver the package without leaving any note to make you aware that attempts have been made.

Important Notes About FedEx
In order to speed up the customs clearance, FedEx normally pays the customs fees upfront on your behalf, and then collect it from you when they deliver your package. If you refuse to accept the delivery of your order for any reason, they are not able to get reimbursed from your government for the amount they paid upfront, and these fees will be billed on us, along with the return postage. If that happens, the amount we will be able to reimburse you is: Item Price Subtotal - Customs Fees - Return Postage. Make sure to read about Customs Duties and Import VAT for details.
